While creating profile fiels there is an option to set mandatory fields for participants. However, we can not change the settings whether the participant can edit or not. In some cases we would prefer them not to be able to edit the answers as their other settings might vary according to the answer given.
This limitation is there since we don't have "create profile" view, only "edit view", so this ensures that mandatory field will not be left empty. If I understand your need correctly, this would require a new setting like "Can be modified only if value is empty" for profile fields. Is this correct?
I mean that if we are asking the person to answer mendatory question for example 'do you need tutoring for subject X' and the participant answeres 'no' and according to the answer is not give a permission to enter tutoring page. Then the participant decides to change the answer and is automatically given the permission. We don't want participants to swich the settings after entering the answers without us monitoring the situation.
Yes, I think we are talking about the same thing. This is a bit problematic - it is a bit usability problem if you are allowed to enter, but not later edit/correct some data.
I also see the risk of people actively changing their answers for questions like "do you need tutoring for subject X" if they are not told that it directly affects on what you can see. The risk is very minimal in my opinion (why would I even open my profile if I don't have the need?).
Anyways, this need could be already solved by using some other tool for collecting the data and then adding users to workspace (manually, excel import or automated through our API). Would it be possibility to first see if this becomes a problem for you (people actively changing field values) and if it comes, then implementing one of the above solutions I mentioned?
